Rise of the Runelords #83: A Giant Amount of Giants

In a missing chapter, the party drove off the dragon and turned the tide against the giants! After interrogating (and befriending!) one of the captured stone giants, they found out they needed to take out Mokmurian, who is gathering an army of giants in a keep called Jorgenfist, in the Storval Plateau. This some weeks travel away. The party’s inventor, Jail, tells their tale. (-GM)

19th of Abadius, 4708 AR

The party’s journey

After the party’s few days of resting and helping the town of Sandpoint rebuild, they travel to Galduria and speak to some of their villagers about the attacks by giants. They find out the attacks have also been happening to them as well. Then three giants try to attack but Aranea shoots a bolt of electricity at the giants, bouncing it off a house 360 no-scope trick shot almost killing them. Ralramp shoots a bolt of electricity, finishing off two of them and Kondjure hits the last one and the villagers finish it off.

After a while of Jail teaching the kids to make knives and how to use them, the party leaves and heads to the next location, a place called Wolf’s Ear and Ravenmoor, where the party spends the night uninterrupted then leaves the next day to the final area called the Storval Stairs.

There, the party encounter five hill giants. Aranea fires another shot off, hitting four of them for almost no damage. Kondjure runs to them and uses his boots, making him as tall as the hill giants, and starts attacking. Aranea shoots at them, dealing lots of damage but not much compared to their health. Many swift shots almost kill Kondjure, but Ralramp heals him.

Jail and Aranea run into the battle to help attacking these huge creatures, doing what felt like nothing. Kondjure gets knocked unconscious but is healed by Jail. More difficult battling leads to Kondjure almost dying again, only to be saved by Ralramp. Still low health, Kondjure melds into the stone floor, leaving Jail and Aranea alone in a huge crowd of giants, and then one of the giants kills Aranea.

Jail, infuriated, scares and crits the giant. Kondjure then gets out of the stone and tries to push one of the giants off the edge of the stairs, but fails. One more is killed by Jail and Kondjure. Jail fixes Aranea only for her to get knocked back down dead (well more dead then she already was).

Kondjure kills another giant and pushes another off the side of the stairs finally, but it doesn’t really care. It just walks back around and up the stairs. Jail tries to trick one of the giants, but fails and gets two more little hits in.

Rise of the Runelords #81: Sandpoint in Flames

In a missing chapter of our tale, the party encountered the ogres’ leader, a stone giant spellcaster who had a note saying there would be a raid on the humble town of Sandpoint, the party’s starting town! The alchemist Gustav Gustav pursued his dream of opening a troll restaurant, and a ranger named Petey joined the party. The party returned, worked with the city to mount a defense, and are now fighting stone giants and a dragon! (-GM)

4th of Abadius, 4708 AR

Quite frankly, the giants weren’t that big of a problem. They were pretty tough, but we managed them. The dragon was another matter. Surprise surprise, dragons, even young ones, are not creatures that die easily. We tried valiantly, but to no avail.

That thing added us to the list of adventuring casualties pretty quickly. It didn’t help that I had about a shot glass’s worth of magical energy still in my system, not enough to heal anything worse than a broken finger. Sure, we tried, but that’s not going to magically make that dragon die. Hopefully our successors shall have better fortune.

Rise of the Runelords #79: The Guardian

A wandering dwarf, Kondgure Stoanoath, and his trusty cat friend Clive happened to be exploring Hook Mountain, to find adventurers assaulting an ogre lair! (-GM)

25th of Kuthona, 4707 AR

Kondgure Stoanoath

I met a strange new group while fighting locals. Clive being a good boy pranced into the arms of a sexy crafter named Jail. with Jail was a teddy bear on spider legs.

The next day we ran into three hags who tried to turn me into a cat… I mean I love kitties but I don’t want to be one! They pummeled me to the point of death, but I wasn’t knocked out until after I gravely injured two. Ralramp then quickly dispatched two then healed me. Then as she began to run away I axed her in the back then high fived Ralramp for a job well done👍

Rise of the Runelords #78: Bark’s Last Bite

The party continues its assault on the Kreeg Clan on Hook Mountain! (-GM)

24th of Kuthona, 4707 AR

The party continues its great battle against the Kreeg Ogre and its 3 companions. The battle is turning and not to the favor of the party. The Kreeg Ogre’s attacks are powerful and don’t often miss.

Bark Thorson

Bark tries to help the party by staying in harm’s way, and he pays for it. The dog’s great body hits the ground, and its hair settles on the ground. This is a sad moment for everyone, but Kreeg shows no mercy as he continues to beat on the party. Aranea is just in front of the party, tanking many hits. The party manages to kill one of the three companions, but Kreeg doesn’t care; he hits without skipping a beat.

Suddenly, in a turn of events, Aranea hits one shot, throwing her large body into the Kreeg, damaging him a lot. All the damage Kreeg has been taking has finally caught up to him. With a swift and merciless shot. Aranea kills Kreeg.

His two remain companions are enraged by the fall of their once-great leader, and they fight as best they can, but this won’t matter. A hole is blown through the chest of one of them by Gustav Gustav’s new “eroding” ammo. Aranea knocks the last onto its knees, and Ralramp hits it with the power of the sun, doing over 100 damage, evaporating the last remaining creature.

As it dies, the party can finally rest. They save Bark and start to heal themselves, but there is no time for that because another Kreeg and his three companions appear from outside and begin to battle the party again.

This one is much more difficult; these ones are smarter. The Kreeg hides and calls his companions to battle the party themselves, but the party focuses on him. Ralramp supercharges and shoots Kreeg. Bark also makes a hand that run up to Kreeg. Him not knowing this, he tries to eat the hand, and as he does the hand explodes, dealing a lot of damage.

The party kills two of his companions, and the Kreeg runs up to the party finally, and they get into a violent battle. Ralramp makes skeletons rise from the ground and attack Kreeg. Bark gets up on his hind legs, cracks his knuckles. grabs an explosive hand and says “go fetch”!

The explosion damages the Kreeg greatly and almost to death. As the party looks up and past the mist of blood in the air, they see Bark lying on the ground and on the walls and ceiling of the cave, a grin still on his face. The party knows his sacrifice may just be what they need to survive.

In memory of Bark Thorson, a great wizard and a greater dog.

Rise of the Runelords #77: Atop Hook Mountain

After returning to the grateful town of Turtleback Ferry, the party went on a detour led by a fey, to find that a nixie is in mourning because her lover, the former commander of Fort Rannick, was taken away by the ogres. The party ventured up Hook Mountain to defeat the clan in its own home!

24th of Kuthona, 4707 AR

After defeating the worm, the party moved into the cave, from where they had heard noises. They planned to take control of the cave and use it as a center of operations. But to do that, they would first have to vanquish its current owners, a group of ogres.

They only managed to move a short distance into the cave before the ogres arrived, eager to dispatch these new intruders. Unfortunately for them, the party was experienced combating their kind.

After a short (or at the very least, shorter than the fight with the worm) but intense battle, the ogres finally relinquished their lair.

Rise of the Runelords #74: HOT DAM!

The party is finally freed from the troll leader’s prison, and meets new adventurers, the internationally-renowned chef Gustav Gustav, and his loyal pet (who magical things keep happening around), Bark Thorson! They encounter a guardian from ancient Thassilon… -GM

23rd of Kuthona, 4707 AR

We continue our fight with the bone scorpion, and we are going to call it Scull. Scull grabs Jail and tries to choke her. Scull fails to kill her, and she stabs, it hurting it a little. Then Bark hits it, almost killing it. Then Scull gets killed.

Behind its body, the party heals their fallen teammates and notices a little model dam and walks over to it, trying to open, it thinking it might open the real one. After many failed attempts, the team runs to the door hidden by the skulls. The party digs them away from the door, then open it.

The party sees a large devil on a rune circle that seems to be drawing the power from it along with another circle on the other side of the room covered in a pile of ash. After a few minutes of negotiation with the devil, they quite literally MAKE A DEAL WITH THE DEVIL saying he will bring 2 small devils to hopefully power the circle because the circle is using the same magic as the model.

They let the devil out and he crawls away then disappears. Then 10 minutes later he comes back with 2 smaller devils and tells us his debt is paid, then leaves. The party puts the devils on the circle, and they turn to ash, and they hear a large sound. The party checks the model and sees the mouths are open and the eyes are lit up. The they all climb up the stairs and check the real dam and in fact the water is flowing!

The team then heads back in victory. As they head home, they run into a bunch of little orbs that just attack and run off over and over again. After we kill one, they leave. The party went back to the town and are congratulated by the townsfolk, and they throw a festival for the party.

Rise of the Runelords #73: The Ancient Guardian

The party is finally freed from the troll leader’s prison, and meets new adventurers, the internationally-renowned chef Gustav Gustav, and his loyal pet (who magical things keep happening around), Bark Thorson! They encounter a guardian from ancient Thassilon… -GM

23rd of Kuthona, 4707 AR

At last, the troll had been defeated, and its prisoners freed. After the former adventurers and their newer counterparts introduced themselves to each other, the parties soldiered on to face whatever new threat they might encounter. It didn’t take long to find a threat; before they could go far they found the way forward blocked by a colossal spider! Naturally, being adventurers, they found themselves obligated to slay the abominable arachnid.

This proved to be a shockingly difficult task. Within a minute, Aranea had been destroyed, and many of the adventurers were wounded. Luckily, the battle was not entirely one-sided; the spider was approaching death’s door.

Rise of the Runelords #72: The Troll Patrol

Our heroes were held prisoner by the powerful troll Grazuul. In a missing chapter, the follow-up rescue party from Turtleback Ferry became a hearty meal. Fortunately for our original party, a new group called “The Troll Patrol” delved in to challenge the troll! -GM

23rd of Kuthona, 4707 AR

The new party was strong and happy singing songs and telling tall tales as they explored the coast in search of trolls. They were avid chefs and had heard of the wonderful regenerative properties of the meat, and wanted a live one to repeatedly butcher.

When they heard of a den of trolls that had sprouted up, not too far from them they jumped on the opportunity. They were told that the trolls had a great fear of flame and acid, and began preparing to hit the den with great blasts of scorching acid. The tips were not without warning, as many had fallen in an attempt to drive the pestilence from the land.

Rise of the Runelords #70: Their Watery Tomb

In a missing chapter, the party killed an initial group of trolls and descended deep into the dam. They met the trolls’ powerful leader… -GM

22nd of Kuthona, 4707 AR

The party continued their treacherous battle with the trolls. A thought crossed the minds of everyone in the party. Do we run? The uncertainty and fear poisoned their thoughts.

They were a tengu with a burning sword named Kraiton, a kobold with a deadly hand able to conjure hounds from hell and fire from the lakes in it named Ralramp, and a girl with a large spider she depended on named Jail. But one man stood up. His name was Kiplan.

“Why run? Why give in to the creatures that threaten our home? I say we fight!” And with that the fear lifted from the party.

All that remains were warriors doing whatever they could to save the lives of the civilians that were threatened. This was for them. Bullets flew with speed and precision. The trolls were fast and ruthless. Kiplan took the first shot, the gun sounding like the scream of the hundreds of creatures killed by its hand. Soon after, the entire party was firing. The party and the enemy in a choke point, they took a lot of health from them, killing one.

Rise of the Runelords #68: River of Blood

When we last left our heroes, the party encountered ogres trying to sabotage the dam. -GM

20th of Kuthona, 4707 AR

The dam hadn’t looked too good from the start — weird, hulking things, damaged stonework and weird skulls — but we had to pass. After killing off some strange monsters that had two bodies combined, we went to cross the dam and our old friends came. Or charged across the dam, high on bloodlust.

It’s really not that different; a rain of spears is much worse. Bullets and cold steel are a great way to deal with close friends, especially orcs, and we had plenty of it.

After moving on, we found this weird housey thing. Guess what? Monster den! A wall of flesh and some Sword and Sorcery later, the battle was won and the adventures continued.
