Valestar, the group’s paladin, leads the party’s further descent into the dark and dank… –GM
14th day of Neth, 4715 AR
I have not been able to update this journal as much as I wish I could. But I will try to write more. Anyway, as we continued to explore the dungeon, we found a long hallway with doors on both sides. We looked in the first one, and it led to a long hallway leading away from us. Myself and Vv went down first, and at the end we saw a doorway. I opened it and walked in. It was a medium sized room with a short wall and a pool of water behind it. Suddenly, the short wall moved and a serpentine shape emerged, made out of stone. Vv was struck, and it dealt a crushing blow to him. Sean blasted it, and it seemed to have very little effect. John Cena’s Sister and Drun both shot it, and their bullets bounced off of it harmlessly. We realized that this may be a fight we would not walk away from, and we performed a tactical withdrawal.
When we were in the hallway healing, I heard what sounded like undead. I looked down the hall, and sure enough, four shambling skeletons were plodding towards us. I charged in, and with a sweeping blow from my sword, one crumbled into a pile of bones (it’s all in the wrist!). We made quick work of them, with my prowess with my sword and our bows and guns, and soon all that was left was a hallway filled with broken bones.
We moved on to the next room, and found it empty, and went to the last room at the end of the hall. Inside this one, which was a fair amount larger than the other ones, was a mosaic and an oil painting. They both portrayed us in the room and when I moved, my image in both would move too. The oil painting however, showed a staircase going down in front of it, however, where there would be one in the real world there was just stone. I went over to have a look, and to my surprise, exactly where the reflection of the staircase said it was, was a staircase! The floor was just an illusion, and below was the staircase. I looked at the mosaic, and there was an image of a chest, but when we tried to go to where it would be, there was nothing there.
We decided to go down the staircase, and we found ourselves in a room with paintings of a angel-like being giving aid to others. There was a horrid smell, and in the corner was a pool of bubbling feces. Then, all of the sudden, four zombies oozed out of the muck and shambled towards us, with a hair-raising stench. I charged in and cut one down, while Vv and Death From Afar pin-cushioned one with their arrows. But Vv’s newly acquired pet dinosaur was struck by one, and it contracted some horrible disease. We made quick work of the rest, with a couple of bullets, kinetic blasts and an arrow or two. There were two doors in the room, but we had lots of wounds, and we made an executive decision to return home, and finish this later. We ended up using quite a bit of healing on the dinosaur, but it was healed in the end.
After a good night’s sleep, we debated over starting a town or returning to the dungeon, but logic prevailed, and we returned to the dungeon. We returned to the room with the snake-like monstrosity, and with the help of a clue written on the wall of an area in the level before, we tried to send Drun in sleeping. But it tried to attack him, so we pulled him out, but our summoner Winter felt that it was SOOOO necessary for us to have a longer time to escape, even though it wasn’t needed. It was a heroic sacrifice, even if it was needless. Then we noticed what looked like a door handle sticking out of the wall above the water basin. Sean tried to pull it out with his telekinesis, and he was successful. A drawer flew out and was caught by our lovely Paladin (me). Inside was a broken Potion of Invisibility, a couple of scrolls, and some gold.
We then went back down to the disgusting room. We went through the first door, to find a couple of messy desks with papers strewn everywhere. In the middle of one wall however, was a gaping hole, and a pus-like liquid streamed through. There was also a large oak cabinet in the corner, an old bookshelf containing thick leather-bound books, and an imprint in the wall next to it of a left hand. Blizzard and Sean ran up to it and placed their hands into it, while I looked at the bookshelf, and the books in said bookshelf. Blizzard and Sean disappeared, while I found out that all of the books in the shelf were medical or biology texts, and I put them into my pack, for later study. Sean and Blizzard came back a couple seconds later, bleeding and out of breath. They explained that they had been teleported to another room, and a mechanical horror attacked them. There had been another hand imprint on the wall of the place they had been teleported, and so they were able to return.
All of a sudden, as we were looking at the stuff on the desk, another group of zombies crawled out of the pus liquid and attacked us. I charged in, with an astonishing leap over a desk and a beautiful lunge over a pool of the pus, I slashed one in half with my longsword. Drun, John Cena’s Sister, Vv, Sean and Death From Afar made mincemeat out of them with their combination of arrows and bullets, while me and Vv’s dinosaur julienned them in with our combination of claw and sword. Soon, we were undead-free, but some of the non-Paladin members of our group required healing, so I channeled the power of Sarenrae to heal their wounds, and all was good.
We decided to investigate further down the tunnel in the wall, and, avoiding the pus, we walked into a large circular room with a pool of the pus stuff in the middle, and a ten-foot tall statue of a god facing it. But it had been defaced, with blood and grime covering it, and, oddly, a necklace of left hands. But before we could act, the pus started congealing into lumpy mounds, and soon a quartet of small demons flew into the air to combat us. I, thinking quickly, smote one, and let loose arrow after arrow, and soon he fell back, into the filth where he came from (couldn’t take the SMITE). Vv, Sean, Drun, John Cena’s Sister, and Death From Afar blasted/shot one out of the sky, and the other two disappeared. One reappeared seconds later, only to finish casting a summoning spell that summoned three swarms onto us, of which Sean killed two. Vv is yelling at me to come down and make ready to go back to the dungeon, so I must finish this later.
