10th day of Sarenith, 4713 AR

skull-crossbones5But just before they were about to leave the ship, the slave that was behind the captain came up to Fawkes and whispered in his ear…

The waves crashed against the side of the boat as Fawkes, Gorak, Stephanie, Leonardo, the viscount’s niece Jacinth Deepwarder and their crew sailed off to see what lay ahead. A few days into the trip, they spotted another ship. It was black and had a dragon’s head at the front which looked (to Gorak and Leonardo at least) like some kind of strange alien erection. Someone who appeared to be the first mate flagged them down, so Fawkes and Jacinth boarded their ship and walked over to the first mate.

The first mate said that the captain needed help and that he wasn’t in his right mind. Fawkes said he would gladly come with him. So they entered the captain’s quarters.

And there the captain was, with a slave behind him. The captain seemed to have removed the chains of all the slaves on the ship and let them roam around freely. The first mate said this wasn’t right. Fawkes was on the captain’s side of course, but Jacinth said nothing. After a while, the captain told them to leave and they did so. But just before they were about to leave the ship, the slave that was behind the captain came up to Fawkes and whispered in his ear, “We have the captain under a spell but it’s about to break! We need your help to keep it!”

As the slave returned to the captain’s quarters, Fawkes tried to tell everyone as quickly as he could, but he wasn’t quick enough — they heard bangs and shouting from the captain’s quarters! The group rushed in and saw that the captain had overturned his chair and was fighting the slave! Leonardo was quickest — he drew his pistol and shot a foul shot! It missed the captain by inches and sailed off toward a large crate. Gun powder spilled out, but it caused no problem for anyone on the ship. The battle continued like this including Stephanie shooting a lightning bolt at a few of the captain’s mates and Leonardo shooting the crap out of the Captain. Meanwhile, the slaves fought their overseers with their own weapons! The battle was soon over.

They followed the smell down to the bottom deck, where it turned out to be a wereshark. And once again their peaceful ship turned into a battlefield…

So they freed all the slaves, and continued on their journey after circling back to drop off the slaves onto shore so they could return home and so that Stephanie’s water elemental could deliver the contraband ship to Port Shaw’s dock. But after they headed once again toward their goal, they were slowed once again by a strange smell.

Gorak recognized the smell as dragonsmoke (he wouldn’t say how). They followed the smell down to the bottom deck, where it turned out to be a wereshark. And once again their peaceful ship turned into a battlefield. Fawkes got bitten twice, and they seemed to be making little progress on the wereshark, until finally Gorak pulled his musket out of his belt, took careful aim, and pulled the trigger. An explosion occurred, and suddenly the only remnants of the wereshark’s body was splattered against the back wall! The wereshark was dead.

They had freed slaves and started a rebellion. It looked like a perfect time to reach their goal and have some peace and quiet. But danger waits for no one. As they reached the island, they found a group of hags! (Now you may be thinking this was too many Battles fit into a too small amount of time. Well that’s exactly what I thought but come on this is Pathfinder.) Fawkes took on two and one was killed quickly. With the other he wrapped his spiked chain around the hag’s neck and pulled.  A repulsive ripping sound hit the air, leaving the hag with a bloody ring around her neck, and left Fawkes with a lot of skin to clean off his chain. The hags were dead, but soon Jacinth let out a yell looking out over the other side of the ship…
