Campaigns and Groups for the Summer!

19 May

Chapter 1 of Rise of the Runelords has just wrapped up, and so we are about to embark upon a Glorious New Era! We will have NEW outside-the-Guild groups to last through the summer.

Please note that virtually no one got everything they wanted, in terms of campaign choice and who they wanted to be in a group with. I have had to balance a lot of things, including the compatibility of people’s schedules. Also, the composition and size of these groups can still change.

To see the dates of upcoming meetups, go to this Calendar. I will also keep a link to it in the right sidebar.

Here are the groups!

Kingmaker (June 2) –
Galen, Nima, Salvatore, Simon

kingmaker

In Kingmaker, you begin as neophyte adventurers given a charter to clear an untamed wilderness. Eventually, you must deal with the challenges of ruling a burgeoning kingdom: regional politics, building your economy, and defending it from invaders!

Guidelines for character creation:

  • STARTING LEVEL: Level 1 (the Adventure Path eventually takes us up through Level 17, then we see where we go from there)
  • CLASSES: all Paizo-published classes and archetypes are available
  • RACES: only the races listed under Core Races and Featured Races on this page
  • ABILITY SCORES: 15-point buy
  • WEALTH: Typical starting wealth for your character class
  • KEEP IN MIND: The noble families of Brevoy are human, and your race might affect your influence with them. Skills and abilities associated with exploring the wilderness are important. Also, there are 11 functions of ruling a kingdom, and Charisma is important to some of them, especially to the most important one of them: the Ruler.

Rappan Athuk/Wrath of the Righteous (June 17)
Axel, Hilding, Ian M., Moises, Nick, Otto

rappan-athuk4wrath-righteous

We begin with Rappan Athuk and, if you want, move on to Wrath of the Righteous!

Rappan Athuk’s diabolical traps, strange features, and monsters will force you to think smart and use your wits. Populated by the denizens and worshipers of Hell, Rappan Athuk takes characters up to level 20 and beyond. NO ONE has beaten its final boss yet: the Prince of the Undead, Orcus himself!

In Wrath of the Righteous, we will use Pathfinder’s upcoming Mythic Rules to stop the Worldwound from vomiting forth a full-blown demonic invasion! Take on Mythic powers and become demigods, and perhaps reach Level 20! FUN!

Guidelines for character creation:

  • We start with Rappan Athuk, so create TWO characters: the one you’ll use, and your backup! So that when you die, you can immediately jump back in hehehe… (Though the party must return to the surface to get reinforcements.)
  • STARTING LEVEL: Level 5 (Rappan Athuk can go up to Level 20 and beyond, Wrath of the Righteous can go up to high levels with Mythic powers)
  • CLASSES: all Paizo-published classes and archetypes are available
  • RACES: all the races listed this page are available
  • ABILITY SCORES: Rolled randomly using the Organic Method!! Roll 4d6, drop the lowest straight down the list. Then reroll one score, then switch two. The GM must witness them, OR call me or email me and I will help you generate scores. (I will not lie — Scout’s Honor!!)
  • WEALTH: 10,500 gold
  • KEEP IN MIND: Work with your party members to create a balanced party: this will be a challenge!

Razor Coast, Group One (June 9)
Galen, Nima, Salvatore, Simon

RazorCoast2

Razor Coast is a Caribe-Polynesian flavored, Age of Sail swashbuckling RPG campaign filled with smuggling rings, desperate naval battles, oppressed tribes craving heroes, witches, cursed islands, legendary treasure troves, and mutating cannibal pygmies. Rig a ship and take it to sea in this sandbox campaign!

We will also use Frog God Games’ options in the Razor Coast Freebooter’s Guide and rules for ships and ship warfare in Razor Coast: Fire As She Bears!

Guidelines for character creation:

  • STARTING LEVEL: Level 5 (this campaign goes up to Level 12, and then we can decide what to do afterward)
  • CLASSES: all Paizo-published classes and archetypes are available, as well as the classes and prestige classes in the Freebooter’s Guide
  • RACES: on this page, only the races listed under Core Races and Featured Races, plus Changelings, Gillmen, Gripplis, Kitsune, Merfolk, Nagaji, Samsarans, Vanaras, Vishkanyas and Wayangs
  • ABILITY SCORES: 15-point buy
  • WEALTH: 10,500 gold
  • KEEP IN MIND: You may want to be skilled in Profession (sailor), and if a character captains a ship then Charisma is useful for having a strong and loyal crew.

Razor Coast, Group Two (June 7)
Athos, Jackson, Moises, Nick, Otto

Same information as above!

Crypt of the Everflame (Date TBD) –
Group TBD

crypt-everflame

We will not begin with an Adventure Path; rather, we will start with the module Crypt of the Everflame, and you can figure out along with your party what kind of campaign you want this to become! (This can include starting an Adventure Path.) You start as young people in a town that has the annual tradition of sending its youth to the tomb containing the remains of the town’s founder, to light “The Everflame.”

Guidelines for character creation:

  • STARTING LEVEL: Level 1 (we will go as long as you want!)
  • CLASSES: all Paizo-published classes and archetypes are available
  • RACES: only the races listed under Core Races and Featured Races on this page
  • ABILITY SCORES: 15-point buy
  • WEALTH: Typical starting wealth for your character class

I have added a link to the right sidebar, “Calendar,” for easier access to the schedule and locations of campaign meetups as the schedule evolves.
