THE PRIZE: You get to be called Champion of the Pathfinders’ Guild until the next Tournament. (So bragging rights, basically. Oh, and you get to gain an entire level in The Guild.)
THE FORMAT: We will have some version of a knock-out tournament. Think March Madness in the NCAA basketball championships, where 16 teams face off, then 8, then 4, then the final 2. The number of players will determine the exact structure. Also, we might have a Best-Out-Of-Three format, depending on how much time each battle takes.
WHEN: It will be the last Wednesdays of the semester, perhaps starting January 9. (The last Wednesday of the semester is January 23.) People who are still in the tournament would play during the first half of The Guild.
THE RULES: You create one character (“gladiator”) of any of the 11 core character classes. It must be at a certain level (I will determine this later) and be given a certain amount of GP to buy items available in The Shoppe. If your gladiator wins, he or she advances to the next round but at the next level of experience. The final championship will be between 2 gladiators who are at 6th level.
Battles will play out in an arena that is yet to be determined. Winning a round also earns you XP.
IF YOU WANT TO PARTICIPATE… leave a comment below! You will also need time to make an official character that I verify is legal for play. Also, if you have friends who want to play, have them comment here also. They should also come to the Guild on a day BEFORE the tournament begins so we can create their gladiator.
